Ian Joy joins CBS Sports as their new soccer analyst

Soccer analyst and co-commentator Ian Joy has joined CBS Sports.

Joy made his debut for the New York-based broadcaster today when he appeared on CBS Sports HQ alongside former beIN SPORTS colleague Jeremy St. Louis to share his analysis about the return of the 2019/20 Europa League season.

In March 2020, Joy announced he was leaving FOX Sports after the end of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season. Speaking to World Soccer Talk at that time, Joy said “I’ll be moving closer to New York City where I feel like my brand is become bigger than anywhere else in the U.S. and where I feel I can develop as a person and talent better. I’ll hopefully find myself in a position where I’m being challenged every single day.”

The San Diego-born analyst has found that new challenge at CBS Sports. Later today on CBS Sports HQ, Joy will be providing pre-game coverage for Europa League alongside CBS Sports analyst DaMarcus Beasley and host Poppy Miller.

In addition to working for CBS Sports, Joy has just agreed a new deal with YES Network where he will be more of a permanent fixture sharing his opinions and analysis on all of their sports.

Joy is one of the top American soccer analysts. Prior to joining CBS Sports, he was an analyst and co-commentator at FOX Sports where he covered the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga, among other leagues. Joy joined FOX Sports after a successful career at beIN SPORTS where he established a loyal following for his honest and passionate analysis on games and coverage from Serie A, Championship, LaLiga and Ligue 1.

Joy began his TV and radio career doing color commentary for FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake after his retirement from professional soccer in 2011.
