FOX Sports picks up Canadian Premier League tournament rights

MEDIAPRO Canada has confirmed a distribution deal with FOX Sports in the United States and the Caribbean for coverage of the Canadian Premier League’s Island Games tournament currently taking place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

A total of 23 first-stage games will be broadcast across FS2 and Fox Soccer Plus, with live coverage beginning last week. The first game, the fixture between Pacific FC and York9 FC, was the highest-rated program of the day on FS2.

Further coverage on the two channels will be announced as the tournament moves towards the playoff stage, from September 9th – 17th, with the grand final airing on September 19th.

The coverage on FS2 and Fox Soccer Plus means that the CPL will be aired on a linear channel in the U.S and the Caribbean for the first time.
