How to watch Liga MX in English on US TV and streaming

Believe it or not, the most popular soccer league in the U.S. based on TV ratings is Liga MX. Of course, the proximity to Mexico combined with the number of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans is the main reason for the league’s popularity. But the amazing atmospheres in stadiums, energy from the commentators and exciting back and forth play makes the experience very enjoyable to watch as a fan. And in one of the best-kept secrets for soccer fans in the United States, many of the games are available to watch with English-language commentary on TV and streaming.

TUDN has English-language rights to the home games of most Liga MX teams. FOX Sports has exclusive rights to home matches featuring Monterrey, Santos Laguna, and Tijuana. FOX Sports and TUDN do not have the English-language rights to the home games for San Luis and Chivas. Unlike the majority of sports leagues around the world, Liga MX allows teams to individually negotiate television rights for themselves.

TUDN shows English-language matches on TUDNxtra, their overflow streaming channel. TUDNxtra is available on a select number of providers:

1) fuboTV. The easiest and most seamless way to watch TUDNxtra is via the streaming service fuboTV (free trial), which has all 11 TUDNxtra channels integrated into their app.

Whenever a Liga MX game is scheduled to broadcast on TUDN in Spanish, TUDNxtra will stream the game with English-language commentary.

To find it on fuboTV, look for the upcoming listings of games (see screengrab below). where there will be two broadcasts of each Liga MX game. The one that says “TUDN Xtra1” is the English-language broadcast.

2) Other providers. Comcast Xfinity added TUDNxtra to their service. DISH Network also has TUDNxtra directly on their platform. Subscribers to Google Fiber can access TUDNxtra because the network is integrated into the service. Cox and Altice (Optimum and Suddenlink) can view TUDNxtra through authenticated logins.

3) TUDN app. The service is also accessible through the TUDN app.

4) Directly via the TUDNxtra web page. Click on the live game, and log in by authenticating your username and password from your cable, satellite or streaming provider (as long as they’re one of the approved ones mentioned above).

5) FOX Sports. Select games will be televised in English-language late at night on FS1 or FS2. Unfortunately, FOX Sports never promotes them, so if there is a home Santos Laguna, Monterrey or Tijuana game, check the FS1 and FS2 TV schedules to see if the game will be aired.

Iheanacho the hero as Leicester close gap on Liverpool

Leicester (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Kelechi Iheanacho struck deep into stoppage time as Leicester beat Everton 2-1 to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League to eight points.

Richarlison had given the visitors a shock lead at the King Power as Everton produced a performance that may do enough to save manager Marco Silva’s job ahead of the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.

But the introduction of Iheanacho just after the hour mark changed the game as the Nigerian set up Jamie Vardy to equalise and then dramatically scored the winner, which was initially ruled out for offside before a VAR review overturned the decision.

A sixth straight Premier League win sends Brendan Rodgers’s men three points clear of defending champions Manchester City in second.

Silva was reportedly on the verge of losing his job earlier in the week after a run of just two wins in 10 league games that has left the Toffees hovering just above the relegation zone.

The Portuguese responded with a change of formation and his switch to a 3-5-2 worked to perfection for the opening goal.

Djibril Sidibe broke upfield from right wing-back and his cross was bulleted home by Richarlison with a diving header.

Leicester had already seen two half-hearted appeals for a penalty waived away for challenges on Ayoze Perez by the time that referee Graham Scott did point to the spot for Mason Holgate’s apparent trip on Ben Chilwell.

However, a lengthy VAR review concluded no contact had been made and the Foxes were frustrated once more.

Leicester laboured in the search for an equaliser, but the introduction of Iheanacho as a substitute just after the hour mark provided the much-needed spark.

His first effort was too close to Jordan Pickford, but he got in behind the Everton defence again moments later and squared for Vardy for score his 13th goal of the season at the back post.

Vardy had been quiet for the first 68 minutes, but came alive in the final quarter.

James Maddison should have done better from his cross as his finish was straight at Pickford before Vardy rose highest in the box but just planted his header from Youri Tielemans’s cross too high.

Just as Leicester were turning the screw, Everton were inches away from retaking the lead in spectacular fashion as substitute Moise Kean nearly scored his first goal for the club with a curling effort that hit the side-netting.

Gladbach reclaim Bundesliga top spot with Freiburg win

Berlin (AFP) – A brace from Breel Embolo saw Borussia Moenchengladbach reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga table as the home side ran out 4-2 victors over Freiburg at Borussia Park on Sunday.

Gladbach lead RB Leipzig by one point at the top of the table and host reigning champions Bayern Munich, who sit four points adrift, next weekend.

In-form Gladbach striker Marcus Thuram wasted no time getting off the mark, giving the Foals the lead on three minutes.

The Frenchman tapped the ball in from close range to register his sixth league goal of the season.

Freiburg hit back quickly to equalise in the sixth minute, with Jonathan Schmid’s superb, curling free-kick giving goalkeeper Yann Sommer no chance.

Going into the break at 1-1, the home side exploded out of the blocks, scoring two goals within six minutes to give themselves a 3-1 lead.

Embolo smashed the ball home after being set up by Patrick Hermann in the first minute of the second half.

He was then brought down in the penalty area just two minutes later and was given a chance to score his second when the referee pointed to the spot, but his effort hit the post.

The Swiss international redeemed himself just moments later however, setting up Hermann to score his side’s third goal.

Freiburg’s Lucas Hoeler got one back for the visitors in the 58th minute, heading home a free-kick from Christian Guenter. 

Gladbach endured a nervous 10 minutes with Freiburg camped in their penalty area, before Embolo scored in the 71st minute to restore the home side’s two-goal cushion.

In Sunday’s late game, Wolfsburg take on Werder Bremen, while on Monday Mainz welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Opel Arena.

Celtic, Rangers level once more after big wins

London (AFP) – Celtic and Rangers continued their shootout at the top of the Scottish Premiership thrashing Ross County and Hearts respectively on Sunday.

Just one goal separates the Glasgow giants as Celtic won 4-1 in the Highlands for a 10th straight victory, then Rangers responded with a 5-0 hammering of managerless Hearts at Ibrox.

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie took his tally for the season to 15 with a first half brace either side of Ross Stewart’s leveller for County.

Tom Rogic then made it 3-1 as his deflected effort found the bottom corner 23 minutes from time.

Mikey Johnston rounded off the scoring just seconds after coming off the bench with a brilliant individual run and finish to keep Celtic top.

Alfredo Morelos was again the man to get Rangers up and running as the Colombian opened the scoring for Steven Gerrard’s men with his 25th of the season.

Ryan Kent made the game safe before half-time and Hearts gave their hosts another helping hand when Christophe Berra’s own goal made it 3-0.

Greg Stewart then came off the bench to score twice on the rebound and close the gap at the top to the finest of margins ahead of Celtic and Rangers’ meeting in the League Cup final next weekend.

Martinez double puts Inter top of Serie A as Juventus slip at home

Milan (AFP) – Lautaro Martinez’s first-half brace put Inter Milan top of Serie A on Sunday with a 2-1 win over SPAL after champions Juventus were held 2-2 at home by Sassuolo.

“We didn’t use our heads,” lamented Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri after his side lost their first points at home this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the spot to rescue a point but Juventus slipped one point behind Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.

Argentinian Martinez put Inter ahead after 16 minutes at the San Siro, and then connected with Antonio Candreva’s cross before the break to head in his eighth league goal this season.

Mattia Valoti pulled a goal back, but second-from-bottom SPAL fell to their ninth defeat.

Conte has guided Chinese-owned Inter to 12 victories in 14 league games, and they reclaimed the top spot which they had held until their 2-1 defeat to Juventus on October 6.

In Turin, Leonardo Bonucci struck early for the eight-time reigning Serie A champions but Jeremie Boga and Francesco Caputo hit back for Sassuolo before Ronaldo’s point-saving intervention.

Sassuolo, in 12th, claimed their first ever point at Juventus, and held Sarri’s unbeaten champions to their third draw of the season.

“We got into trouble on our own, we didn’t use our heads in the first half, as the goals conceded show,” said Sarri.

“Every time we lost the ball we left ourselves open. We had a first half without application and little energy from the character point of view. 

“But we were coming off two games in which we used up a lot of energy against Atalanta and Atletico Madrid.

“We woke up after going behind.”

Ronaldo started up front, having missed last weekend’s league game with a slight knee problem, as Paulo Dybala, who scored in their Champions League win over Atletico Madrid, started on the bench.

Eighteen-year-old Stefano Turati made an impressive debut in the Sassuolo goal, and pulled off a string of fine saves, denying Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Dybala late.

But Juventus counterpart Gianluigi Buffon had a nightmare. The 41-year-old, making just his fifth start this season, was at fault in Caputo’s goal just after the break.

Bonucci got Juventus off the mark with a long-range effort on 20 minutes.

Three minutes later Boga pounced on a Caputo cross and sent it past an out-rushing Buffon from an angle.

Caputo added a second following a mix-up between Juan Cuadrado and Matthijs De Ligt in the Juventus defence, with Buffon then fumbling the effort into the back of the net.

Honours even as Wolves, Sheff Utd maintain unbeaten runs

London (AFP) – Wolves and Sheffield United edged closer towards the European places in the Premier League after sharing the points from a 1-1 draw at Molineux on Sunday.

Victory for either side would have taken them up to fifth in the table and the visitors got off to a flying start as Lys Mousset struck in the second minute to give Chris Wilder’s men the lead.

United had chances to extend their advantage, but were wasteful and they were punished when Matt Doherty headed home an equaliser 26 minutes from time.

The draw means Wolves extended their unbeaten run to nine league matches, while the Blades are now without a defeat in seven games and remain unbeaten on the road this season.

On top of sitting sixth in the Premier League, Wolves secured their place in the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday with a 3-3 draw in Braga, but looked fatigued from their European exploits early on.

George Baldock’s cross from the right was brought down by Mousset, who then fired his shot into the bottom corner to continue his fine form of late.

Rui Patricio kept his side in the game by saving from Mousset with his foot just before the break and, after United also started the second half on the front foot, the Portuguese goalkeeper saved Wolves again by blocking David McGoldrick’s effort.

Those saves were crucial as Raul Jimenez’s cross picked out the unmarked Doherty to head past Dean Henderson midway through the second half.

New manager, same old Arsenal held at Norwich

Norwich (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg could not end Arsenal’s long wait for a win as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s double only salvaged a 2-2 draw at struggling Norwich on Sunday.

The Canaries twice led through Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell only for Aubameyang to level, first from the penalty spot and then with a clinical finish after the break.

But Arsenal also had goalkeeper Bernd Leno to thank for coming away with a point as the German saved brilliantly from Kenny McLean, Pukki and Emiliano Buendia.

Unai Emery was sacked as Arsenal manager after seven games without a win in all competitions that had seen the Gunners fall well off the pace in the race for a top-four finish.

Ljungberg remains a fans’ favourite from his title-winning days as an Arsenal player, but he suffered the same problems as his predecessor as the visitors’ firepower up front was needed to cover up their defensive problems.

Granit Xhaka returned to the Arsenal side for the first time in the Premier League since an explosive clash with the club’s fans as he was substituted against Crystal Palace last month that cost him the captaincy among four changes from Emery’s last starting line-up in the league.

Shkodran Mustafi was surprisingly recalled for his first outing in the Premier League this season, but it did not take Ljungberg long to realise the German is not his answer to Arsenal’s problems a centre-back.

Ljungberg’s side had made a bright start, but fell behind to Norwich’s first dangerous attack when McLean’s pass played in Pukki, who twisted and turned David Luiz before seeing his shot deflect in off Mustafi for his first goal in nine games.

However, Norwich have also made a habit of giving themselves a mountain to climb this season with defensive errors and gifted Arsenal a route back into the game when captain Cristoph Zimmerman handled a free-kick inside his own box.

Aubameyang saw his first spot-kick saved by Tim Krul, but was given a second chance after a VAR review for encroaching by the Norwich players and fired home the retaken penalty.

Just as Arsenal were beginning to get on top, they were again cut open with ease as Onel Hernandez’s cut-back was passed into the far corner by Cantwell to give Norwich a half-time lead.

Aubameyang has now scored half of his side’s 20 Premier League goals this season as the Gunners’ new captain led by example to smash home at the back post from a corner just before the hour mark.
