FOX’s schedule of World Cup commentators for Round of 16 games

FOX Sports has announced their lineup of commentators for the Round of 16 games in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. John Strong and JP Dellacamera will continue to call games from Russia alongside co-commentators Stuart Holden and Tony Meola, while Derek Rae and Aly Wagner will continue to stay in Los Angeles to announce games from the FOX studio.

That means there’s no room for the commentator pairings of Jorge Perez-Navarro and Mariano Trujillo as well as Glenn Davis and Cobi Jones. Perez-Navarro/Trujillo, especially, have generated the most negative reaction about commentators among soccer fans in the United States. Davis and Jones were fine, but it appears that FOX Sports wants to pair down the numbers of commentators as we progress into the latter stages of the tournament.

There’s no doubt that Strong/Holden will continue to get all of the big matches including the World Cup final. What will be interesting to watch is whether Followill/Barton or Rae/Wagner will get a quarter-final to commentate or not.

Saturday, June 30

France vs. Argentina (Round of 16), 10am, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — JP Dellacamera and Tony Meola

Uruguay vs. Portugal (Round of 16), 2pm, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — John Strong and Stu Holden

 

Sunday, July 1

Spain vs. Russia (Round of 16), 10am, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — Derek Rae and Aly Wagner

Croatia vs. Denmark (Round of 16), 2pm, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — Mark Followill and Warren Barton

 

Monday, July 2

Brazil vs. Mexico (Round of 16), 10am, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — John Strong and Stu Holden

Belgium vs. Japan (Round of 16), 2pm, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — JP Dellacamera and Tony Meola

 

Tuesday, July 3

Sweden vs. Switzerland (Round of 16), 10am, FS1, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — John Strong and Stu Holden

Colombia vs. England (Round of 16), 2pm, FOX, Telemundo, fuboTV, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue — Derek Rae and Aly Wagner
