Turner Sports acquires Scottish Premiership rights to stream via B/R Live

EXCLUSIVE: Turner Sports, the new rights-holder for the UEFA Champions League and Europa League in the United States, has added to its arsenal of soccer rights by acquiring the live and on-demand streams of key Scottish Premiership games.

The matches will be streamed to viewers in the United States via the B/R Live streaming platform from Bleacher Report. B/R Live is the new streaming home of the Champions League and Europa League beginning in the summer of 2018. But with just weeks to go in the Scottish top division, B/R Live subscribers can watch the culmination of the Scottish league as Celtic aim to win the title.

The timing of the acquisition of the Scottish Premiership rights in the US is perfect. This Sunday, B/R Live will stream the Celtic-Rangers Old Firm Derby live from Celtic Park. The Celtic-Rangers match kicks off at 7am ET. A win for Celtic against their arch-rivals will guarantee the Bhoys their seventh top-flight title in a row.

B/R Live is a paid subscription streaming platform, but it’s being offered for free (with no credit card required) until June (see B/R Live FAQ for more details).

World Soccer Talk understands that the deal between the Scottish Premiership and Turner Sports is a multi-year agreement that was brokered through MP & Silva.

Under the agreement, the high-profile matches will be available to viewers in the United States with an average of 2-3 games available each weekend. For more details, visit our Scottish Premiership TV schedule page.

Today’s news is fantastic for fans of Scottish soccer in the United States. The league, which has a hardcore audience, has suffered recently due to no US television or streaming contract after FOX Sports declined to renew its deal. Prior to today’s announcement, fans of select Scottish clubs could subscribe to a club’s streaming package, which was priced at more than $100 per season.

B/R Live is available on iOS, web and Android devices. In the summer, it will launch on TV-connected devices (presumably Roku and AppleTV).
